Section 36-32-3 Officers; powers and duties; compensation; expenditures and revenues; education and training; facilities. (a) The commission shall elect a chairman and a vice-chairman from among its members at the first regular quarterly meeting of the calendar year. Section 40-9B-3 Definitions. (a) For purposes of this chapter, the following words and phrases mean: (1) ABATE, ABATEMENT. A reduction or elimination of a taxpayer's liability for tax or payments required to be made in lieu thereof. (a) All municipalities shall have the following powers: (1) To license any exhibition, trade, business, vocation, occupation, or profession not prohibited by the Constitution or laws of the state which may be engaged in or carried on in the municipality. (a) This section and Section 41-22-5.2 shall be known and may be cited as "The Red Tape Reduction Act."
