Section 22-22A-3 Definitions. For the purposes of this chapter, the following words and phrases, unless a different meaning is plainly required by the context or by legislation governing functions transferred by this chapter, shall have the following meanings: (1) DEPARTMENT. The Alabama Department of Environmental Management, established by this chapter. (2) DIRECTOR. The director of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management. (3) DIVISION. A subdivision of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management, which may be headed by a division chief. Such divisions may be divided into sections where appropriate. (4) ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT COMMISSION. The Environmental Management Commission of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management. (5) FUNCTION(S). Section 34-11-7 Issuance of certificate; seal. (a) The board shall issue a certificate of licensure to any applicant for licensure as a professional engineer or professional land surveyor who, in the opinion of the board, has satisfactorily met all the requirements of this chapter. In the case of a professional engineer, the certificate shall authorize the practice of engineering and shall carry the designation "Professional Engineer". Section 34-2-35 Seal of registrant; purpose; violations. (a) Each registrant must obtain a seal of a design authorized by the board bearing the registrant's name, the legend registered architect, the words State of Alabama, and the registrant's license registration number.
