Section 34-34A-6 Creation of board of examiners; members; qualifications of members;
term of membership; duties of board. (a) The State Board of Examiners for Dietetics/Nutrition
Practice is hereby created. (b) The board shall consist of three members. Two members of the
board shall be dietitians/nutritionists licensed under this chapter. One member of the board
shall be a lay person. The Governor shall appoint board members. At least two names shall
be submitted for each place on the board. No elected officer of the Alabama Dietetic Association,
Inc., shall be eligible to serve on the board. (c) Each dietitian/nutritionist on the board
shall have been engaged in the practice of dietetics/nutrition for not less than seven years,
with at least the last two years in the State of Alabama. The dietitians/nutritionists on

Section 23-6-1 Definitions. Where used in this chapter the following words and terms
shall be given the following respective meanings unless the context hereof clearly indicates

Section 34-25A-5 Application for licensure or registration. (a) Except as provided in
subsection (h) or (i), no person shall administer prosthetic, orthotic, or pedorthic care
in this state unless licensed or registered to do so in accordance with this chapter. The
board shall issue approved forms for application prior to January 1, 2003. (b) In order to
obtain a license as a prosthetist, orthotist, or prosthetist/orthotist in this state, an applicant
shall be a citizen of the United States or, if not a citizen of the United States, a person
who is legally present in the United States with appropriate documentation from the federal

Section 34-36-3 Definitions. The following terms shall have the meanings respectively
ascribed to them used in this chapter, for the purposes of this chapter, unless the context

Section 39-7-1 Definitions. When used in this chapter, the following terms shall have
the following meanings, respectively, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise: (1)

Section 34-21-4 Funds of board; transfer of duties, powers, etc., of Board of Nurses'
Examiners and Registration to Board of Nursing. All funds and revenues of whatever kind authorized
or collected under the provisions of this chapter or the regulations of the board shall be
collected by the board and shall be handled in accordance with existing regulations and accounting
procedures of state departments and deposited in the board's trust fund in the State Treasury.
Disbursements and withdrawals of such funds by the board shall be made in accordance with

Section 34-25A-3 Definitions. As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have
the following meanings: (1) ACCREDITED FACILITY. A facility where prosthetic, orthotic, prosthetic
and orthotic, or pedorthic care is provided to patients needing such care and has met the
requirements of the board for such designation. The board shall require that all accredited
facilities meet the requirements of a national certifying board, recognized by the state board
in prosthetics, orthotics, and pedorthics accredited by the National Commission for Certifying
Agencies (NCCA) in the discipline or disciplines for which the application is made and meet
