Section 34-24-166 Refusal, revocation, or suspension - Grounds; rules; disciplinary action.
(a) The State Board of Chiropractic Examiners may refuse to grant a license or permit to any
applicant who is not of good moral character and reputation or has a history of narcotic addiction
or has previously been convicted of a felony or any crime of moral turpitude or has previously
been diagnosed as having a psychopathic disorder. (b) The State Board of Chiropractic Examiners
may invoke disciplinary action as outlined in subsection (c) whenever the licensee or permit
holder shall be found guilty of any of the following: (1) Fraud in procuring a license or
permit, or any fraud in obtaining money or other thing of value. (2) Immoral conduct. (3)
Unprofessional conduct. (4) Habitual intoxication or addiction to the use of drugs. (5) Conviction

or the appointing authority to whom the sheriff has delegated such disciplinary powers, may
remove, discharge, suspend, or demote any employee in the classified service of the office
of the sheriff, provided that within five days thereof, a written report of such action is
made to the board, giving the reason or circumstances surrounding such disciplinary action.
If any aggrieved employee is suspended for more than three days, removed, discharged, or demoted,
he or she shall be entitled to a board hearing on such disciplinary action, upon written demand
thereon within 10 days of such action. A hearing shall be held within 10 days of the receipt
of the written request therefor. All meetings of the board on disciplinary matters shall be

Section 25-5-81 Determination of disputed compensation claims generally. (a) Commencement of
action in circuit court. (1) PROCEDURE. In case of a dispute between employer and employee
or between the dependents of a deceased employee and the employer with respect to the right
to compensation under this article and Article 2 of this chapter, or the amount thereof, either
party may submit the controversy to the circuit court of the county which would have jurisdiction
of a civil action in tort between the parties. The controversy shall be heard and determined
by the judge who would hear and determine a civil action between the same parties arising
out of tort, and, in case there is more than one judge of the court, the controversies shall
be set and assigned for hearing under the same rules and statutes that civil actions in tort

to process, review, and investigate reports and complaints of fraud, incompetence, misconduct,

against any employee assigned to his or her department so long as the action is taken in accordance
