Section 16-60-197 Additional vocational trade schools authorized. The State Board of Education is hereby authorized, empowered and directed to establish and provide for the construction of three new vocational trade schools in this state in addition to the trade schools heretofore provided by law, to be located at such places as will make such schools conveniently accessible to all areas of Alabama. The cost of constructing such schools shall be paid out of the proceeds realized from any bonds issued and sold by the State Board of Education or any other authority of this state for the purpose of financing the construction of public school buildings or from any other funds made available for the construction of trade schools. Section 16-46-7 Adoption of rules and regulations; advisory committee. The State Board of Education may adopt rules and regulations for the administration and enforcement of this chapter and shall require the Chancellor to establish an advisory committee of owners or operators of private postsecondary institutions, to which this chapter applies, and of other persons with knowledge in the field to which this chapter applies to advise the Chancellor in the administration of this chapter relating to private postsecondary institutions. (a) The Director of ADECA may establish and administer the broadband accessibility grant program for the purpose of promoting the deployment and adoption of broadband Internet access services to unserved areas. By June 26, 2018, the director shall adopt rules and policies to administer the program and begin to accept applications for grants, and shall adopt such rules as may be necessary to meet the future needs of the grant program. (a) The State Board of Education shall develop and establish a comprehensive plan for improving courses in science, mathematics, computer education and other critical needs areas.
