Section 34-27-2 Definitions; exemptions from chapter. (a) For purposes of Articles 1 and 2 of this chapter, the following terms shall have the respective meanings ascribed by this section: (1) ASSOCIATE BROKER. Any broker other than a qualifying broker. (2) BROKER. Any person licensed as a real estate broker under Articles 1 and 2 of this chapter. (3) COMMISSION. The Alabama Real Estate Commission, except where the context requires that it means the fee paid to a broker or salesperson. (4) COMMISSIONER. A member of the commission. (5) COMPANY. (a) The general administration and responsibility for the proper operation of the retirement system and for making effective the provisions of this article are hereby vested in a board of trustees which shall be known as the Board of Control. (a)(1) There is established an advisory committee to be known as the Cahawba Advisory Committee, composed of 16 members, 15 of whom shall be appointed by the Governor. (a) The Bibb County Commission, or any succeeding county governing body performing the functions of the county governing body in the county, shall employ a county engineer, who shall be a thoroughly qualified and competent civil engineer, possessing all of the qualifications as specified for county engineers under the general laws of the State of Alabama. (a) In addition to any other provision of law or any rule or regulation by the state or federal government or local government in Limestone County, and specifically Chapter 27, Title 22, as amended, relating to the regulation, operation, or location of any privately-owned or controlled regional landfill for solid waste, the Limestone County Commission shall provide for a referendum on the question of the location, acceptance, or operation of such privately owned or controlled regional landfill for solid waste after the public hearing thereon.
