Section 34-11-1 Definitions. For the purposes of this chapter, the following words and phrases
shall have the respective meanings ascribed by this section: (1) BOARD. The State Board of
Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, provided for by Section 34-11-30.
(2) DESIGN COORDINATION. The review and coordination of technical submissions prepared by
persons other than the principal engineer, including, as appropriate and without limitations,
consulting engineers, architects, landscape architects, land surveyors, and other professionals
working under the direction of the engineer. (3) DISCIPLINARY ACTION. Any final written decision,
order, consent agreement, public reprimand, or other formal action taken against an individual
or firm by the board based upon a violation of this chapter or a board rule. (4) ENGINEER
INTERN. An individual who has been certified as an engineer intern by the board. (5) ENGINEER

Section 34-7B-20 Qualifications of applicants for examination or licensure - Natural hair stylist.
(a) No person may be admitted to an examination or licensed as a natural hair stylist unless
he or she satisfies all of the following qualifications: (1) Is at least 16 years old. (2)
Has successfully completed at least 10 grades in secondary school, or the equivalent. (3)
Has successfully completed at least 210 clock hours in a licensed or registered school of
cosmetology or natural hair styling or 420 clock hours in a licensed shop for a period of
six months under the immediate supervision of a licensed cosmetologist or natural hair stylist,
who has held a license for at least five years, including practicing as a natural hair stylist
before August 1, 2013, and as a licensed cosmetologist or a natural hair stylist before August

Section 34-9-11 Examination of applicants; issuance of licenses. When application and accompanying
proof as are required herein are found satisfactory, the board shall notify the applicant
to appear for examination at a time and place to be fixed by the board, and each applicant

Section 45-49-40.08 Examinations. (a) The board shall conduct examinations for applicants for
licenses to practice as barbers and as apprentices at least four times each year, at such
times and places as the board shall determine. Such examination shall include both a practical
demonstration and a written and oral test, and shall embrace the subjects usually taught in
schools and colleges of barbering approved by the board. Licenses to barbers or apprentices
shall be issued by the board to any applicant who shall have passed the examination therefor,
by making a score of at least 70 percent on each section of the examination, and who shall
possess the other qualifications required by this part. (b) Whenever the board shall be requested
to give a special examination, the applicants taking such examination shall pay an additional

Section 34-11-8 Renewal of certificates; expired licenses; inactive status; retirement. (a)
The board, by rule, shall establish a procedure for renewing certificates of licensure on
an annual or a biennial basis. It shall be the duty of the board to notify every licensee
under this chapter of the expiration of the license and the fee required for the renewal.
The board shall establish the renewal fee for each certificate of licensure which shall not
exceed two hundred dollars ($200) for annual renewal or four hundred dollars ($400) for biennial
renewal. (b) No licensee shall have his or her license renewed unless, in addition to any
other requirements of this chapter, the minimum annual or biennial continuing professional
education requirement is met. It is further provided that the continuing professional education
program herein required shall not include testing or examination of the licensee in any manner.

Section 34-13A-4 License - Qualifications and issuance; temporary license. (a) The board may
issue a license to practice genetic counseling to any individual who satisfies all of the
following qualifications: (1) Is at least 21 years of age. (2) Has applied in writing to the
