Section 33-5-16 Certificates of registration and numbers generally - Transfer of interest or destruction or abandonment of vessel; change of address; duplicate registration certificates. (a) The owner shall furnish the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources notice of the transfer of all or any part of his or her interest other than the creation of a security interest in a vessel numbered in this state pursuant to this article or of the destruction or abandonment of such vessel within 15 days thereof. Such transfer, destruction, or abandonment shall terminate the certificate for such vessel; except, that in the case of a transfer of a part interest which does not affect the owner's right to operate such vessel, such transfer shall not terminate the certificate. Section 40-23-4 Exemptions. (a) There are exempted from the provisions of this division and from the computation of the amount of the tax levied, assessed, or payable under this division the following: (1) The gross proceeds of the sales of lubricating oil and gasoline as defined in Sections 40-17-30 and 40-17-170 and the gross proceeds from those sales of lubricating oil destined for out-of-state use which are transacted in a manner whereby an out-of-state purchaser takes delivery of such oil at a distributor's plant within this state and transports it out-of-state, which are otherwise taxed. (a) Any vessel already covered by a number in full force and effect which has been awarded to it pursuant to the operative federal law or federally approved numbering system of another state may be operated on the waters of this state for a period of 90 consecutive days without being licensed under the provisions of this article.
