Section 41-29-501 Definitions. (a) For the purposes of this article, the following words and phrases shall have the following meanings: (1) AUTHORITY. The public corporation organized pursuant to the provisions of Sections 41-10-20 through 41-10-32. (2) AUTHORIZED PURPOSE. Any one or more of the purposes for which grants are herein authorized to be made as specified in Section 41-29-503(a). (3) BOARD OF DIRECTORS. The board of directors of the authority. (4) BOND. Section 40-12-260 Transfer of license plates; registration procedures; receipts; penalty. (a) Effective January 1, 1998, license plates, except for license plates issued under the provisions of Section 40-12-290, et seq., or any subsequent enactment which authorizes special license plates based on vehicle age, shall not be transferable between motor vehicle owners and the following registration procedures shall apply: (1) When a current and valid Alabama motor vehicle license plate has been obtained for the current tax year for use on a motor vehicle and the vehicle has been sold or otherwise transferred to a new owner, the license plate shall be removed from the vehicle and retained by the original plate owner. Section 40-2B-2 Alabama Tax Tribunal. (a) Statement of Purpose. To increase public confidence in the fairness of the state tax system, the state shall provide an independent agency with tax expertise to resolve disputes between the Department of Revenue and taxpayers, prior to requiring the payment of the amounts in issue or the posting of a bond, but after the taxpayer has had a full opportunity to attempt settlement with the Department of Revenue based, among other things, on the hazards of litigation.
