Section 32-9A-2 Compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations; in-service training by law enforcement officers. (a)(1) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (b), no person may operate a commercial motor vehicle in this state, or fail to maintain required records or reports, in violation of the federal motor carrier safety regulations as prescribed by the U.S. Department of Transportation, 49 C.F.R. Part 107, Parts 171-180, Parts 382-387, and Parts 390-399 and as they may be amended in the future. Except as otherwise provided herein, this chapter shall not be construed to repeal or supersede other laws relating to the operation of motor vehicles. (2)a. The director may conduct public hearings for the purpose of gathering information and public comment on the consideration of an application for approval of an airport or a restricted landing area, or an original license to use or operate an airport, restricted landing area, or other air navigation facility. Section 32-5-64 Persons under 16 years of age operating motor vehicles - Prohibited; driver training programs. Any person under the age of 16 years who shall drive or operate any motor vehicle upon the public highways of this state shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be dealt with as provided by the juvenile laws of this state. This section shall not apply to any student enrolled in a driver training program approved by the State Superintendent of Education or the Director of Public Safety while driving or operating a motor vehicle pursuant to the instructional program. Section 32-9B-1 Definitions. For the purposes of this chapter, the following words shall have the following meanings: (1) AUTOMATED COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLE.
