Section 32-8-2 Definitions. For the purpose of this chapter, the following terms shall have
the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly
indicates a different meaning: (1) CURRENT ADDRESS. A new address different from the address
shown on the application or on the certificate of title. The owner, within 30 days after the
address is changed from that shown on the application or on the certificate of title, shall
notify the department of the change of address in the manner prescribed by the department.
(2) DEALER. A person licensed as an automobile or motor vehicle dealer, or travel trailer
dealer and engaged regularly in the business of buying, selling, or exchanging motor vehicles,

Section 32-6-1 Required; expiration date; renewal; identification cards for nondrivers. (a)
Every person, except those specifically exempted by statutory enactment, shall procure a driver's
license before driving a motor vehicle upon the highways of this state. Every new resident
of the State of Alabama shall procure an Alabama driver's license within 30 days after establishing

Section 32-6-65 Uniform registration renewal form; centralized registration prohibited; penalties.
(a) There shall be one uniform registration renewal form to be used statewide. Such form shall
be designed so as to provide for both the transfer of ownership and the registration of the
vehicle. All receipts shall be sent to the county agencies charged with handling vehicle registration.
Receipts may be provided to the registrant in a tangible format or in an electronic format,
as prescribed by the department. The state and the county shall capture the color of the motor
vehicle in their permanent records. This subsection shall not give the Department of Revenue
authority to centralize vehicle registration. Centralized registration is specifically prohibited
and it is the legislative intent that automotive vehicle registration shall remain at the

Section 32-6-130 Design and issuance of special plates; plates nontransferable; fees. (a) Any
veteran, as defined in Section 31-5-1, who is a resident of this state and who is suffering
a physical disability which requires that any motor vehicle he or she operates be equipped

Section 11-73-4 Operation of low-speed vehicles on roads and streets of Class 2 municipalities
- Conditions. A low-speed vehicle may only be operated on any public roads or streets under
the following conditions: (1) The vehicle may not be operated on a public road or street by
