Section 8-32-2 Definitions. As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the following meanings: (1) ADMINISTRATOR. The person designated by a provider to be responsible for the administration of service contracts or the service contracts plan or to make the filings required by this chapter. (2) COMMISSIONER. The Commissioner of Insurance of this state. (3) CONSUMER. A natural person who buys, primarily for personal, family, or household purposes, and not for resale, any tangible personal property normally used for personal, family, or household purposes and not for commercial or research purposes. (4) MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT. A contract of limited duration that provides for scheduled maintenance only. (5) MANUFACTURER. A person that is one of the following: a. A manufacturer or producer of property that sells the property under its own name or label. b. A subsidiary of the person who manufactures or produces the property. c. Section 27-18-14 Notice as to conversion rights. If any individual insured under a group life insurance policy hereafter delivered in this state becomes entitled under the terms of such policy to have an individual policy of life insurance issued to him without evidence of insurability, subject to making of application and payment of the first premium within the period specified in such policy, and if such individual is not given notice of the existence of such right at least 15 days prior to the expiration date of such period, then, in such event, the individual shall have an additional period within which to exercise such right, but nothing contained in this section shall be construed to continue any insurance beyond the period provided in such policy. Section 5-13B-23 Interstate merger transactions and branching; operation of branches. (a) One or more Alabama state banks may enter into an interstate merger transaction with one or more out-of-state banks under this article, and an out-of-state bank resulting from such transaction may maintain and operate the branches in Alabama of an Alabama state bank that participated in such transaction, provided that the conditions and filing requirements of this article are met. Section 5-13B-6 Standards for approval.
