Section 32-6-191 Preparation; issuance; proof of membership to be submitted by applicant; additional fee; restriction on types of motorcycles. The distinctive license plates provided for in this subdivision shall be prepared by the Commissioner of Revenue and shall be issued through the judge of probate or license commissioner of the several counties of the state in like manner as are other motor vehicle license plates, and such officers shall be entitled to their regular fees for such service. Applicants for such distinctive plates shall present to the issuing official proof of their membership in a Shrine motorcycle club, corps, or unit within the state by means of a certificate signed by the potentate of the Shrine Temple of such applicant, on forms prescribed by the Commissioner of Revenue. (a) A member of the Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine for North America who is the owner of a motor vehicle and a resident of the state may be issued a distinctive license tag or plate bearing the words "The Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine" across the top portion of the tag or plate and bearing its logo between the county identification number and the actual license number. All applications for motor vehicle tags by mail and the correct amount of taxes and fees shall be received by the commissioner of licenses on or before the last day of the month of expiration, and the commissioner of licenses shall mail such tag forthwith.
