Section 34-21-2 Board of Nursing generally. (a) There is created the Board of Nursing, which shall be composed of 13 members to be appointed and have the duties and powers enumerated in this section. The membership of the board shall be inclusive and reflect the racial, gender, geographic, urban/rural, and economic diversity of the state. In order to insure continuity of administration, the nine board members provided for by Section 3 of Act 427, Regular Session 1975, shall continue to serve to the completion of the term for which they are serving. The Governor, within 60 days of January 1, 1984, shall appoint a tenth member who shall be a licensed practical nurse for a term of four years from a list of nominees furnished him or her by the Alabama Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses, Incorporated, or its successor organization. Section 34-27-36 Disciplinary action - Generally. (a) The commission or its staff may on its own, or on the verified complaint in writing of any person, investigate the actions and records of a licensee. The commission may issue subpoenas and compel the testimony of witnesses and the production of records and documents during an investigation. If probable cause is found, a formal complaint shall be filed and the commission shall hold a hearing on the formal complaint. The commission shall revoke or suspend the license or impose a fine of not less than one hundred dollars ($100) nor more than two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500), or both, or reprimand the licensee in each instance in which the licensee is found guilty of any of the following acts set out in this section. Section 40-6-3 Life tenure; compensation; cost-of-living increase. (a) Every supernumerary official shall serve for life and shall receive from the county governing body, in equal monthly installments on the first of each month, or in such installments as other county officials or employees are paid, an annual salary as follows: (1) For 12 years' service the official shall receive 60 percent of the average compensation during the last four years served as an official charged with assessing and collecting ad valorem taxes. (a) Every applicant for a barbers license, apprentice barbers license, barber teacher license, scalp specialist license, or a license to operate a barber shop or barbers college, or other like business, shall apply therefor in writing on blanks prepared or furnished by the barbers commission. Section 40-20-22 Applicability; payment of and liability for taxes; reporting. (a) The tax levied by this chapter and computed pursuant to Section 40-20-21 applies to all offshore production produced from depths greater than 8,000 feet below mean sea level, regardless of the method or place or timing of delivery or sale, or the manner or place of processing, or to whom sold, or by whom used, or the fact that the delivery, sale, or storage may be made at points outside the state, or the fact that processing or other preparation for sale, storage, or use occurs outside the state. (a) Any person wishing to make a complaint against a licensee or apprentice under this chapter shall reduce the same to writing and file his or her complaint with the board within one year from the date of the action upon which the complaint is based.
