Section 32-6-611 Personalized plates. (a) Upon application to the judge of probate, license commissioner, or other issuing official, compliance with motor vehicle registration and licensing laws, payment of regular fees required by law for license tags or plates for private passenger or pleasure motor vehicles, and payment of the annual additional fee of fifty dollars ($50), which shall not be prorated, owners of motor vehicles who are residents of Alabama shall be issued personalized God Bless America license tags or plates upon which, in lieu of the numbers prescribed by law, shall be inscribed special letters, figures, numbers, or other marks, emblems, symbols, or badges of distinction or personal prestige or a combination of these as are approved for and assigned to the application by the Department of Revenue.
