Section 32-6-351 Active reserve identification tag. Effective January 1, 1994, a resident of this state who is an active member of the United States Armed Forces Reserve may obtain a distinctive motor vehicle license tag or tags signifying service in the Armed Forces Reserve upon presenting to the judge of probate or commissioner of licenses an active reserve identification card. The distinctive motor vehicle license tags authorized by this division shall be issued in the same manner, under the same conditions, and for the same fees due, if any, as distinctive motor vehicle tags are issued to active members of the National Guard. Section 32-6-213 Probate judge or county official may issue temporary tags and certificates. Each judge of probate of this state or other county official in this state authorized and required by law to issue motor vehicle license tags shall have the authority, upon proper request, to issue a temporary license tag and a temporary registration certificate to the owner of a motor vehicle to be licensed in this state when, due to circumstances, a permanent license tag cannot immediately be issued or when, in the judgment of the probate judge or other county official authorized and required by law to issue motor vehicle license tags, just cause exists for the issuance of such temporary license tag and registration certificate. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to mutilate or alter, for the purpose of deception, any motor vehicle tag, plate, or validation stamp or to use upon any motor vehicle any tags, plates, or validation stamps in imitation of or substitution for authorized issued tags, plates, or validation stamps.
