Section 32-6-111 Preparation; issuance; proof to be submitted by applicant; use. The
distinctive license plates provided for in this division shall be prepared by the Commissioner
of Revenue and shall be issued through the judge of probate or license commissioner of the
several counties of the state in like manner as are other motor vehicle license plates or
tags, and such officers shall be entitled to their regular fees for such service. Applicants
for such distinctive plates shall present to the issuing official proof of their membership
in the National Guard or Air National Guard of Alabama by means of certificate signed by the
commanding officer of such applicant on forms prescribed by the Adjutant General of Alabama.

Section 32-6-710 Issuance of distinctive plates; fees; design. (a) Notwithstanding Sections
32-6-64, 32-6-67, and 32-6-68, upon the remittance of the ad valorem taxes and license taxes
and registration fees as required in Division 4, Article 5 of Chapter 12 of Title 40, a fleet
operator, as defined in Section 40-12-240, shall be issued a fleet license plate in
the manner prescribed by the department. (b) A fleet license plate design issued pursuant
to this section shall be valid for five years. The month and year of expiration shall
be printed on the plate. Proof of current year registration shall be maintained by the fleet

Section 40-12-264 Time limit for purchase of tags or plates; dealer plates; manufacturer
plates. (a) Any person, including a motor vehicle dealer, acquiring a new or used motor vehicle
may be granted a grace period of 20 calendar days from date of acquisition to procure a license
