Section 32-5A-154 Overtaking and passing school bus or church bus; penalties and fines.
(a) The driver of a vehicle upon meeting or overtaking from either direction any school bus
which has stopped for the purpose of receiving or discharging any school children on a highway,
on a roadway, on school property, or upon a private road or any church bus which has stopped
for the purpose of receiving or discharging passengers shall bring the vehicle to a complete
stop before reaching the school or church bus when there is in operation on the school or
church bus a visual signal as specified in Section 32-5A-155. The driver shall not
proceed until the school or church bus resumes motion or is signaled by the school or church
bus driver to proceed or the visual signals are no longer actuated. (b) Every bus used for
the transportation of school children shall bear upon the front and rear thereof plainly visible

Section 32-5A-85 Further limitations on driving on left of center of roadway. (a) No
vehicle shall be driven on the left side of the roadway under the following conditions: (1)
When approaching or upon the crest of a grade or a curve in the highway where the driver's
view is obstructed within such distance as to create a hazard in the event another vehicle
might approach from the opposite direction; (2) When approaching within 100 feet of or traversing
any intersection or railroad grade crossing; (3) When the view is obstructed upon approaching
within 100 feet of any bridge, viaduct, or tunnel. (b) The foregoing limitations shall not
apply upon a one-way roadway, nor under the conditions described in Section 32-5A-80(a)(2),

Section 32-1-1.1 Definitions. The following words and phrases when used in this title,
for the purpose of this title, shall have meanings respectively ascribed to them in this section,
except when the context otherwise requires: (1) ALLEY. A street or highway intended to provide

Section 32-5A-211 Pedestrians' right-of-way in crosswalks. (a) When traffic-control
signals are not in place or not in operation the driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way,
slowing down or stopping if need be to so yield, to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within
a crosswalk when the pedestrian is upon the half of the roadway upon which the vehicle is
traveling, or when the pedestrian is approaching so closely from the opposite half of the
roadway as to be in danger. (b) No pedestrian shall suddenly leave a curb or other place of
safety and walk or run into the path of a vehicle which is so close as to constitute an immediate

Section 32-5A-89 Following too closely. (a) The driver of a motor vehicle shall not
follow another more closely than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard for the speed
of such vehicles and the traffic upon and the condition of the highway. Except when overtaking

feet for each 10 miles per hour of speed between the vehicle that he or she is driving and

Section 32-5A-56 Driving on mountain highways. The driver of a motor vehicle traveling
through defiles or canyons or on mountain highways shall hold such motor vehicle under control

Section 40-17-350 Transportation of motor fuel; inspections. (a) Each person operating
a refinery or terminal in Alabama shall prepare and provide to the driver of every highway
vehicle receiving motor fuel at the facility a shipping document setting out on its face the
destination state as represented to the terminal operator by the shipper or the shipper's
agent. Failure to comply with this subsection may result in a department imposed penalty of
not less than five hundred dollars ($500) nor more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), to
be multiplied by the sum of the current violation plus prior violations of this subsection.
(b) Every person transporting motor fuel in Alabama in a highway vehicle other than in its
supply tank shall carry on board a shipping document issued by the facility where the motor

Section 32-5-242 Requirements as to head lamps and auxiliary driving lamps. (a) Visibility
