Section 23-1-32 Offices; director full-time position. The State Department of Transportation
shall be provided with suitable offices at the State Capitol or such other places as the needs
of the department may require, but no office in any other place than the Capitol shall be
established as an office of said department without the consent and approval of the Governor
in writing. All offices shall be kept open at such times as the business of the department
and the convenience and interest of the public may require. The offices shall be conveniently
and properly furnished at the expense of the state and shall be the depository for all records

Section 40-17-359 Distribution and use of proceeds. (a) For the purpose of this section, the
following terms shall have the meanings ascribed below: (1) BASE ANNUAL COUNTY DISTRIBUTION.
Five hundred fifty thousand dollars ($550,000). (2) COST OF COLLECTION. The amounts from the
proceeds of the highway gasoline tax that may be appropriated by the Legislature to the department

Section 23-1-5 Payment of costs of relocation of utility facilities necessitated by construction
of highways. (a) Whenever the Director of Transportation shall determine and order that the
relocation of any utility facility is necessitated by the construction of any project on the
national system of interstate and defense highways, including the extensions thereof within
urban areas, the utility owning or operating the utility facility shall relocate the facility
in accordance with the order of the Director of Transportation. Notwithstanding the foregoing,
if the cost of the utility facility relocation is eligible and approved for reimbursement
by the federal government, the cost of the relocation of the utility facility shall be paid

Section 23-3-3 Authority to plan, etc., facilities; regulation, etc., thereof. The Director
of Transportation, acting alone or in cooperation with counties, cities, towns or any federal,
state or local agency or any other state having authority to participate in the construction
and maintenance of highways, is authorized to plan, designate, establish, regulate, vacate,

Section 23-1-41 Self-insurance program for department employees. (a) The State Department of
Transportation is authorized and empowered and may, with the approval of the Governor provide
for a self-insurance program covering a certain amount to be paid to the employees of the
State Department of Transportation who may be killed or injured in the line and scope of their
