Section 11-43-185 Agreements for furnishing by State Personnel Department of services and facilities
for administration of merit systems for law enforcement officers of municipalities - Classification
of municipal law enforcement officers and applicability of state Merit System rules and regulations.
Each law enforcement officer in the civil service of any municipality at the time such municipality
enters into such an agreement with the state Director of Personnel under the provisions of
this article shall, upon the effective date of such agreement, be classified to the nearest
classification of their present work assignment and shall thereafter be governed by the state
Merit System rules and regulations, the same as any other law enforcement officer in the service

Section 41-27-2 Secretary - Functions; appointment; compensation; qualifications. (a) The position
of Secretary of the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency is created. The secretary shall serve
as the appointing authority and executive head of the agency and the appointing authority
and department head of the Department of Public Safety and State Bureau of Investigations.
The secretary may delegate all or part of the functions of appointing authority and department

Section 45-35-140.03 Fire protection service fee - Collection, administration, and enforcement.
Except with regard to the enforcement provisions thereof, the fire protection service fee
shall be collected and administered as closely as possible at the same time, in the same manner,
and under the same requirements and laws as are the ad valorem taxes of the state. Likewise,
in the case of mobile homes, the fee shall be collected and administered as closely as possible

Section 16-1-44.1 School security personnel and school resource officers. (a) As used in this
section, the following terms have the following meanings: (1) RETIRED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER.
