Section 11-50A-8 Powers of the authority. In addition to other powers granted the authority by this chapter, it shall have all powers consistent with the purposes of the authority as set forth in Section 11-50A-3, which are necessary or convenient to carry out and effectuate the purposes and provisions of this chapter, including, but without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the following enumerated powers, which shall be exercised by the authority consistently with the provisions of Section 11-50A-3: (1) To sue and be sued and to prosecute and defend in any court having jurisdiction of the subject matter and of the parties thereto; (2) To adopt and alter a corporate seal; (3) To make and alter at pleasure all needful bylaws, rules, and regulations for the transaction of its business and the control of its property and affairs; (4) To have the same right of eminent domain through condemnation conferred by Section 10-5-1, or any subsequent statute of similar import; provided...

Section 40-27-1 Compact adopted; terms. The following Multistate Tax Compact is hereby approved, adopted and enacted into law by the State of Alabama: Multistate Tax Compact Article I. Purposes. The purposes of this compact are to: 1. Facilitate proper determination of state and local tax liability of multistate taxpayers, including the equitable apportionment of tax bases and settlement of apportionment disputes. 2. Section 31-13-21 Employment of state law enforcement officers by Alabama Department of Homeland Security. (a) Notwithstanding Section 31-9A-9, the Alabama Department of Homeland Security may hire, appoint, and maintain APOST certified state law enforcement officers. Such officers shall receive the same rights and benefits as those prescribed to officers of the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency, except for the purposes of retirement. The officers shall have the same retirement benefits as a law enforcement officer as defined under Section 36-27-59. Section 31-13-25 E-Verify employer agent service. (a)(1) The Alabama Department of Homeland Security shall establish and maintain an E-Verify employer agent service for any business entity or employer in this state with 25 or fewer employees to use the E-Verify program to verify an employee's employment eligibility on behalf of the business entity or employer. The Alabama Department of Homeland Security shall establish an E-Verify employer agent account with the United States Department of Homeland Security, shall enroll a participating business entity or employer in the E-Verify program on its behalf, and shall conform to all federal statutes and regulations governing E-Verify employer agents. Section 31-13-23 Enforcement report. (a) The Alabama Department of Homeland Security shall file an annual report to the Legislature on the progress being made regarding the enforcement of this chapter and the status of the progress being made in the effort to reduce the number of illegal aliens in the State of Alabama. The report shall include, but is not limited to, the statistics and results from the enforcement of the sections of this chapter, and suggestions on what can be done including additional legislation to further assist the federal government in its efforts to apprehend illegal aliens in the State of Alabama.
