Section 36-25A-2 Definitions. As used in and for determining the applicability of this chapter, the following words shall have the following meanings solely for the purposes of this chapter: (1) DELIBERATION. An exchange of information or ideas among a quorum of members of a subcommittee, committee, or full governmental body intended to arrive at or influence a decision as to how any members of the subcommittee, committee, or full governmental body should vote on a specific matter that, at the time of the exchange, the participating members expect to come before the subcommittee, committee, or full body immediately following the discussion or at a later time. (2) EXECUTIVE SESSION. That portion of a meeting of a subcommittee, committee, or full governmental body from which the public is excluded for one or more of the reasons prescribed in Section 36-25A-7(a). Section 16-24C-5 Termination of employment - Notice; compensation and benefits. Section 29-1-26 Legislative double dipping prohibited. (a) This section shall be known and may be cited as the Legislative Double Dipping Prohibition Act. Section 16-25-11.21 Purchase of credit for prior service to certain institutions of higher education. (a) Any active, vested, and contributing member of the Teachers' Retirement System who has been employed in public education for a minimum of 10 years may claim and purchase service credit in the system not to exceed five years for prior service between 1974 and 1989 rendered to an educational institution of higher education that receives direct appropriations from the Education Trust Fund but does not participate in the Teachers' Retirement System.
