Section 37-11-1 Execution and text of compact. The Governor, on behalf of this state, is hereby authorized to execute a compact in substantially the following form with the states of Louisiana and Mississippi, and the legislature hereby signifies in advance its approval and ratification of such compact, which compact is as follows: Southern High-Speed Rail Commission. Article I. The purpose of this compact is to study the feasibility of rapid rail transit service between the states of Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama and to establish a joint interstate commission to assist in this effort. Article II. This compact shall become effective immediately as to the states ratifying it whenever the states of Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama have ratified it and Congress has given consent thereto. Section 37-15-10.1 Underground Damage Prevention Authority. (a) The Underground Damage Prevention Authority is created for the purpose of enforcing this chapter and for reviewing penalty provisions and the adequacy of the enforcement process. It is the intent of the Legislature that the authority and its enforcement activities not be funded by appropriations from the state budget. (b) The authority shall utilize the services of the Alabama Public Service Commission to provide administrative support for the authority, subject to the concurrence by the authority board. Section 25-4-16 Wages. (a) Prior to January 1, 1983, "wages," as used in this chapter, shall mean such remuneration as was defined in this section prior to such date. Section 34-24-361 Investigations; reporting offenses; proceedings and actions; privileged information. (a)(1) The State Board of Medical Examiners on its own motion may investigate any evidence which appears to show that a physician or osteopath holding a certificate of qualification to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of Alabama is or may be guilty of any of the acts, offenses, or conditions set out in Section 34-24-360. As part of its investigation, the board may require a criminal history background check of the physician or osteopath. In such event, the physician or osteopath shall submit a complete set of fingerprints to the State Board of Medical Examiners.
