Section 15-9-81 Adoption and text of agreement on detainers. The agreement on detainers is
hereby enacted into law and entered into by the State of Alabama with any and all jurisdictions
legally joining therein, in the form substantially as follows: AGREEMENT ON DETAINERS The
contracting states solemnly agree that: Article I. The party states find that charges outstanding
against a prisoner, detainers based on untried indictments, informations or complaints and
difficulties in securing speedy trial of persons already incarcerated in other jurisdictions,
produce uncertainties which obstruct programs of prisoner treatment and rehabilitation. Accordingly,

Section 30-3B-207 Inconvenient forum. (a) A court of this state which has jurisdiction under
this chapter to make a child custody determination may decline to exercise its jurisdiction
at any time if it determines that it is an inconvenient forum under the circumstances and
that a court of another state is a more appropriate forum. The issue of inconvenient forum
may be raised upon the motion of a party, the court's own motion, or request of another court.
(b) Before determining whether it is an inconvenient forum, a court of this state shall consider
whether it is appropriate for a court of another state to exercise jurisdiction. For this

Section 30-3C-9 Hearing on petition to prevent abduction. (a) If a petition is filed under
this chapter, the court may set a preliminary hearing as necessary, and shall cause to be
issued all summonses and notices as required by law and otherwise deemed necessary and appropriate.
Should the court determine from the petition, or on evidence presented at a preliminary hearing,
that no emergency or temporary orders are appropriate, then the court shall set the petition
for a final hearing at such time as the court deems appropriate and as the best interests

Section 26-14-8 Statewide central registry. (a) For the purposes of this section, the following
words shall have the following meanings, respectively: (1) INDICATED. When credible evidence
and professional judgment substantiates that an alleged perpetrator is responsible for child

Section 30-3B-204 Temporary emergency jurisdiction. (a) A court of this state has temporary
emergency jurisdiction if the child is present in this state and the child has been abandoned
or it is necessary in an emergency to protect the child because the child, or a sibling or

Section 30-3B-102 Definitions. In this chapter, the following terms shall have the following
meanings: (1) ABANDONED. Left without provision for reasonable and necessary care or supervision.
(2) CHILD. An individual who has not attained 19 years of age. (3) CHILD CUSTODY DETERMINATION.
A judgment, decree, or other order of a court providing for the legal custody, physical custody,

Section 26-10A-21 Related proceedings. If, at any time during the pendency of the adoption
proceeding, it is determined that any other custody action concerning the adoptee is pending
in the courts of this state or any other state or country, any party to the adoption proceeding,
or the court on its own motion, may move to stay such adoption proceeding until a determination
