Section 29-6-7 Powers and duties of Legislative Council. (a) In addition to the powers otherwise provided in this chapter, the Legislative Council shall: (1) Approve budget requests, provide accounting services, make purchases, and provide mail distribution, property inventory, telephone service, electronic media services, recycling services, and building maintenance services for the Legislative Department, and all agencies and entities, respectively, therein. (2) Allocate space in the Alabama State House, including to the Senate and the House of Representatives. In carrying out its responsibilities under this subdivision, the Legislative Council may charge and collect rent from any entity allocated space in the Alabama State House at a rate set by the council. The council may establish a special fund in the State Treasury to receive funds from any source to maintain the State House property. Section 11-43A-18 Appointment of city manager; temporary acting city manager; removal; dealings with administrative service. The council, by a majority vote of the whole qualified membership of the council, shall appoint a city manager, who shall be an officer of the city, and shall have the powers to perform the duties in this article provided. Section 29-4-30 Subordinate officers - Clerk of the House of Representatives and Assistant Clerk of the House of Representatives. (a) The subordinate officers of the House of Representatives consist of the Clerk of the House of Representatives and an Assistant Clerk of the House of Representatives. For the purpose of promoting industry and trade and to assist the county commission or other like governing bodies in Escambia County in their pursuits thereof, there is created an Industrial Development Authority for Escambia County which shall be composed of members as provided in this section.
