Section 16-53-4 Board of trustees - Meetings. The Board of Trustees of The University of West
Alabama shall hold its regular annual meeting each year at the institution on the first Monday
in June, unless the board shall in regular session determine to hold its meeting at some other
time and place. Thereafter, the board shall hold quarterly meetings on the first Monday of
each third month after the annual meeting, unless the board shall in regular session determine
to hold its quarterly meeting at some other time or place. Special meetings of the board may
be assembled by either one of the two methods outlined as follows: (1) Special meetings of
the board may be called by the Governor. In calling such special meetings, the Governor shall
mail a written notice to each trustee at least 10 days in advance of the date of such meetings.

Section 37-2-84 Abandonment and discontinuance of grade crossings. (a) The Department of Transportation
is given authority and power to abandon and discontinue any portion of a state highway, or
street on a state highway route with the approval of the city council or governing body of
any municipality, crossing the tracks or right-of-way of any railroad or street railway within
the state, and to close the grade crossing, whenever in the judgment of the department the
grade crossing has ceased to be necessary for the public as a part of any state highway, because
of relocation of the highway, or because of the construction of an underpass or overpass,
or other provision made for the elimination of the grade crossing. Whenever the department
orders the abandonment of a portion of the highway or street and the closing of a grade crossing,

Section 16-35-3 Duties generally. The Courses of Study Committee shall conduct continuing studies
and evaluations of the courses taught in the public elementary and secondary schools of the
state. It shall prepare the contents of the courses of study for each grade of the elementary

Section 45-37-210 Metropolitan Rapid Rail Study Commission. (a) There is created a rapid rail
authority in Jefferson County to be called the Metropolitan Rapid Rail Study Commission, hereinafter
