Section 27-19-103 Definitions. Unless the context requires otherwise, the definitions in this section apply throughout this article. (1) APPLICANT. In the case of: a. An individual long-term care insurance policy, the person who seeks to contract for benefits. b. A group long-term care insurance policy, the proposed certificate holder. (2) CERTIFICATE. Any certificate issued under a group long-term care insurance policy, which policy has been delivered or issued for delivery in this state. (3) COMMISSIONER. The Alabama Commissioner of Insurance. Section 40-23-4 Exemptions. (a) There are exempted from the provisions of this division and from the computation of the amount of the tax levied, assessed, or payable under this division the following: (1) The gross proceeds of the sales of lubricating oil and gasoline as defined in Sections 40-17-30 and 40-17-170 and the gross proceeds from those sales of lubricating oil destined for out-of-state use which are transacted in a manner whereby an out-of-state purchaser takes delivery of such oil at a distributor's plant within this state and transports it out-of-state, which are otherwise taxed. Section 45-5-141.20 Powers and duties; annual dues; board of trustees; referendum election. (a) This section shall apply only in Blount County. (b) A district for the delivery of fire and emergency medical services may be formed in any unincorporated area of the county pursuant to this section subject to the approval of a majority of the qualified electors who vote at a referendum election for that purpose in the proposed district and for the approval of the mandatory annual dues of the district. Section 28-4B-1 Home brewing of beer, mead, cider, and table wine for personal use. (a) Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary, a person who has not been convicted of a felony in Alabama or any other state or federal jurisdiction, and who is not prohibited by Section 28-1-5, from purchasing, consuming, possessing, or transporting alcoholic beverages due to age may produce at his or her legal residence beer, mead, cider, and table wine, as those terms are defined in Section 28-3-1, for personal use, in the amounts specified in this chapter, without payment of taxes or fees and without obtaining a license. Section 45-8-22 Special licenses; additional taxes; maintenance of records. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation, other than the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, to sell at retail in Calhoun County any spirituous or vinous liquors without first obtaining a special license from the judge of probate that shall be in addition to all other licenses required by law. The amount of the special license shall be determined by the county commission and shall be levied in the same manner as other county licenses are levied.
