Section 45-22-243.91 Levy of sales tax. (a) There is levied and imposed in the county, in addition to all other taxes of every kind now imposed by law, and shall be collected as herein provided, a privilege or license tax on account of the business activities and in the amount to be determined by the application of rates against gross sales or gross receipt, as the case may be, as follows: (1) Upon every person, firm, or corporation (not including the State of Alabama or the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board or ABC stores) engaged or continuing within the county in the business of selling at retail any tangible personal property whatsoever, including merchandise and commodities of every kind and character (not including, however, bonds or other evidence of debt or stocks), an amount equal to one percent of the gross proceeds of sales of the business, except where a different amount is expressly provided herein; provided, however, that any person engaging or continuing in...

(a) Any person who distributes tobacco, tobacco products, electronic nicotine delivery systems, or alternative nicotine products within this state shall first obtain a permit from the board for each location of distribution. (a) No person shall manufacture or sell a commercial feed in this state, unless he or she has filed with the commissioner on forms provided by the commissioner, his or her name, place of business, and location of each manufacturing facility from which feed may be shipped within or into this state. (b) The person shall apply for and obtain from the commissioner a license authorizing the sale and distribution of commercial feed. The application for a license shall be accompanied by the fee hereinafter required and shall be on forms furnished by the commissioner which shall contain such information as is necessary for the issuance of the license. (a) No person shall practice dentistry or dental hygiene in the State of Alabama unless licensed or permitted by the board and registered annually as required by this chapter. (a) For the purposes of this section, the term public assistance benefits means money or property provided directly or indirectly to eligible persons through programs of the federal government, the state, or any political subdivision thereof, and administered by the Alabama Department of Human Resources.
