Section 40-25-2 Who is liable for tax; amount; local tax or fee. (a) In addition to all other taxes of every kind now imposed by law, every person, firm, corporation, club, or association, within the State of Alabama, who sells or stores or receives for the purpose of distribution to any person, firm, corporation, club, or association within the State of Alabama, cigars, cheroots, stogies, cigarettes, smoking tobacco, chewing tobacco, snuff, or any substitute therefor, either or all, shall pay to the State of Alabama for state purposes only a license or privilege tax which shall be measured by and graduated in accordance with the volume of sales of such person, firm, corporation, club, or association in Alabama. (a) The Revenue Commissioner of Choctaw County shall perform all duties relative to the assessment and collection of taxes on motor vehicles, motor vehicle titles, and nonmotorized vehicles in Choctaw County which the judge of probate is required under the law to perform. Section 15-12-25 Reimbursement of fees of court appointed counsel by defendant; default. (a)(1) A court may require a convicted defendant to pay the fees of court appointed counsel. Fees of court appointed counsel for the purposes of this section, shall mean any attorney's fees and expenses paid an appointed counsel, contract counsel, or public defender. (2) The court shall not order a defendant to pay the fees of court appointed counsel unless the defendant is or will be able to pay them.
