Section 40-23-6 License required to engage in business; one-time surety bond. (a) If any person shall engage in or continue in any business for which a privilege tax is imposed by Section 40-23-2 as a condition precedent to engaging or continuing in such business, the person shall apply for and obtain from the Department of Revenue a license to engage in and to conduct such business for the current tax year upon the condition that the person shall pay the taxes accruing to the State of Alabama under the provisions of this division; provided, that no license shall be issued under the provisions of this division to any person who has not complied with the provisions of this division, and no provision of this division shall be construed as relieving any person from the payment of any license or privilege tax now or hereafter imposed by law. Section 9-11-56.3 Public fishing pier license; saltwater pier fishing license; fees. (a) A person, firm, or corporation that operates a fishing pier open to the general public in the inside waters of the State of Alabama as defined by Rule 220-3-.04 of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, may purchase a public fishing pier license to be issued by the Marine Resources Division of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The fee for a public fishing pier license shall be one thousand dollars ($1,000) per year, which fee shall be subject to adjustment as provided for in Section 9-11-69. (a) Every person, except those specifically exempted by statutory enactment, within five years from April 28, 1994, shall procure a boater safety certification before operating a motorized vessel upon the waters of this state, as defined in Section 33-5-3.
