Section 27-7-35.1 Payment of commission, etc., to person not licensed. (a) An insurance company or insurance producer shall not pay a commission, service fee, brokerage, or other valuable consideration to a person for selling, soliciting, or negotiating insurance in this state if that person is required to be licensed under this chapter and is not so licensed. (b) A person shall not accept a commission, service fee, brokerage, or other valuable consideration for selling, soliciting, or negotiating insurance in this state if that person is required to be licensed under this chapter and is not so licensed. (c) Renewal or other deferred commissions may be paid to a person for selling, soliciting, or negotiating insurance in this state if the person was required to be licensed under this chapter at the time of the sale, solicitation, or negotiation and was so licensed at that time. Section 36-25-1 Definitions. Whenever used in this chapter, the following words and terms shall have the following meanings: (1) BUSINESS. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, corporation or association to sell or offer for sale any spirituous or vinous liquors in Houston County except at Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control liquor stores and at retail liquor establishments within the corporate limits of the City of Dothan in Houston County and licensed by the general laws of the State of Alabama and also licensed by the City of Dothan as herein provided.
