Section 27-36A-3 Reserve valuation. (a) Policies and contracts issued prior to the operative date of the valuation manual. (1) The commissioner shall annually value, or cause to be valued, the reserve liabilities, hereinafter called reserves, for all outstanding life insurance policies and annuity and pure endowment contracts of every life insurance company doing business in this state issued on or after January 1, 1972, and prior to the operative date of the valuation manual. In calculating reserves, the commissioner may use group methods and approximate averages for fractions of a year or otherwise. In lieu of the valuation of the reserves required of any foreign or alien insurer, the commissioner may accept any valuation made, or caused to be made, by the insurance supervisory official of any state or other jurisdiction when valuation complies with the minimum standard provided in this chapter. Section 27-5A-2 Definitions. As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the following meanings, respectively, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise: (1) ACTUARY. Section 27-27-12 Deposit of solicitation permit funds in escrow - Requirement. (a) All funds received in Alabama pursuant to a solicitation permit, other than advance premiums for insurance which are subject to Section 27-27-18, shall, by the permit holder, be deposited and held in escrow in a bank or trust company located in this state under an agreement approved by the commissioner. (a) An alien insurer may use Alabama as a state of entry to transact insurance in the United States by making and maintaining in this state a deposit of assets in trust with a solvent bank or trust company approved by the commissioner. Section 27-6-13 Sale of surety insurers' special deposit to pay outstanding judgment.
