Section 27-44-7 Board of directors; selection of members; vacancies; organizational
meeting; reimbursement for expenses. (a) The board of directors of the association shall consist
of not less than five nor more than nine member insurers serving terms as established in the
plan of operation. At all times, at least one member of the board shall be a domestic insurer
as defined in Section 27-1-2(6). The members of the board shall be selected by member
insurers subject to the approval of the commissioner. Vacancies on the board shall be filled
for the remaining period of the term by a majority vote of the remaining board members, subject
to the approval of the commissioner. To select the initial board of directors, and initially
organize the association, the commissioner shall give notice to all member insurers of the

Section 45-49-120.10 Pay plan. (a) After consultation with appointing authorities, or
other officers, or both, the director shall prepare and recommend to the board a pay plan
for all employees in the classified service. The pay plan shall include, for each class of
positions, a minimum and a maximum rate not inconsistent with the rate or rates as may otherwise
in specific instances be fixed by law. In establishing the rates, the director shall give
consideration to the experience in recruiting for positions in the classified service, the
prevailing rates of pay for the services performed, and for comparable services in public

Section 25-5-253 Bylaws. (a) Within 120 days after their appointment, the board of directors
shall propose to the Secretary of the Department of Labor a set of bylaws for the operation
and administration of the association. The bylaws shall not be effective until approved by

This section is enacted pursuant to Amendment No. 783 of the Constitution of Alabama
of 1901, now appearing as Section 5.01 of the Baldwin County Local Amendments, Official

Section 27-44-6 Creation of association; membership; accounts; supervision. (a) There
is created a nonprofit unincorporated legal entity to be known as the Alabama Life and Disability
Insurance Guaranty Association. All member insurers shall be and remain members of the association
