Section 22-18-50 Enactment and text of Emergency Medical Services Personnel Licensure Interstate Compact. The Emergency Medical Services Personnel Licensure Interstate Compact is hereby enacted into law and entered into with all other jurisdictions legally joining therein in form substantially as follows: SECTION 1. PURPOSE In order to protect the public through verification of competency and ensure accountability for patient care related activities all states license emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, such as emergency medical technicians (EMTs), advanced EMTs and paramedics. This Compact is intended to facilitate the day to day movement of EMS personnel across state boundaries in the performance of their EMS duties as assigned by an appropriate authority and authorize state EMS offices to afford immediate legal recognition to EMS personnel licensed in a member state. Section 27-52-21 Commissioner of Insurance; benefits offered to small employers; "small employer" defined. (a) The Commissioner of Insurance shall, by regulation, establish the conditions, restrictions, requirements, and plan of operation of the Alabama Small Employer Allocation Program consistent with the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and any and all federal regulations adopted pursuant thereto, which plan benefits shall be inclusive of the provisions of Sections 27-1-10 and 27-19-39. (a) The pension board shall be responsible for the general administration and proper operation of the plan, and shall administer the plan for the exclusive benefit of the members and their beneficiaries, subject to the specific terms of the plan. (a) In addition to all other appropriations and apportionments of public school money now provided by law and made available for public schools there shall be apportioned and paid to local boards of education from the Foundation Program Fund, the amounts to be determined as hereinafter provided and in accordance with regulations of the State Board of Education.
