Section 23-7-5 Powers and functions. (a) In addition to the powers contained in other provisions of this chapter, the bank has all power necessary, useful, or appropriate to fund, operate, and administer the bank, and to perform its other functions including, but not limited to, the following power to: (1) Have perpetual succession. (2) Adopt, promulgate, amend, and repeal bylaws, not inconsistent with this chapter for the administration of the bank's affairs and the implementation of its functions including the right of the board to select qualifying projects and to provide loans and other financial assistance. (3) Sue and be sued in its own name. (4) Have a seal and alter it at pleasure, although the failure to affix the seal does not affect the validity of an instrument executed on behalf of the bank. Section 27-1-17 Limitation periods for payment of claims; overdue claims; retroactive denials, adjustments, etc.; penalties. (a) Each insurer, health service corporation, and health benefit plan that issues or renews any policy of accident or health insurance providing benefits for medical or hospital expenses for its insured persons shall pay for services rendered by Alabama health care providers within 45 calendar days upon receipt of a clean written claim or 30 calendar days upon receipt of a clean electronic claim.
