Section 27-29-1 Definitions. For purposes of this chapter, unless otherwise stated, the following terms shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by this section: (1) AFFILIATE. The term shall include an affiliate of, or person affiliated with, a specific person, and shall mean a person that directly, or indirectly through one or more intermediaries, controls, or is controlled by, or is under common control with, the person specified. (2) COMMISSIONER. The Commissioner of Insurance, his or her deputies, or the Insurance Department as appropriate. (3) CONTROL. Section 27-29-4 Registration of insurers. (a)(1) Every insurer which is authorized to do business in this state and which is a member of an insurance holding company system shall register with the commissioner, except a foreign insurer subject to registration requirements and standards adopted by statute or regulation in the jurisdiction of its domicile which are substantially similar to those contained in this section and both of the following: a. Section 25-5-8 Employers' options to secure payment of compensation. (a) Option to insure risks.
