Section 27-14-3 Insurable interest - Personal insurance; preneed contracts. (a) Insurable interest with reference to personal insurance is an interest based upon a reasonable expectation of pecuniary advantage through the continued life, health, or bodily safety of another person and consequent loss by reason of his or her death or disability or a substantial interest engendered by love and affection in the case of individuals closely related by blood or by law. (b) An individual has an unlimited insurable interest in his or her own life, health, and bodily safety and may lawfully take out a policy of insurance on his or her own life, health, or bodily safety and have the same made payable to whomsoever he or she pleases, regardless of whether the beneficiary so designated has an insurable interest. Section 5-5A-44 Acquisition of majority of voting shares of a bank; procedure. (a) No person, acting directly or indirectly or through or in concert with one or more persons, may acquire control of a state bank or of any corporation or other entity having control of a state bank, unless an application is filed with the superintendent for review of the proposed transaction and for his or her action, if any, as provided in this section. Section 27-27-12 Deposit of solicitation permit funds in escrow - Requirement. (a) All funds received in Alabama pursuant to a solicitation permit, other than advance premiums for insurance which are subject to Section 27-27-18, shall, by the permit holder, be deposited and held in escrow in a bank or trust company located in this state under an agreement approved by the commissioner.
