Section 40-2A-7 Uniform revenue procedures. (a) Maintenance of records; audit and subpoena authority; authority to issue regulations. (1) In addition to all other recordkeeping requirements otherwise set out in this title, taxpayers shall keep and maintain an accurate and complete set of records, books, and other information sufficient to allow the department to determine the correct amount of value or correct amount of any tax, license, permit, or fee administered by the department, or other records or information as may be necessary for the proper administration of any matters under the jurisdiction of the department. (a) An insurance company licensed in this state, or a health care service plan authorized to do business in this state, may either directly or through a subsidiary or affiliate organize and operate a health maintenance organization under the provisions of this chapter. Section 27-21A-29 Existing health maintenance organizations. (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, any health maintenance organization licensed by the State Board of Health and in operation on May 29, 1986, shall be granted a certificate of authority upon payment of the application fee prescribed in Section 27-21A-21 and compliance with Section 27-21A-12. Nothing in this section shall prohibit any such health maintenance organization from continuing to conduct business in this state until such certificate of authority is issued.
