Section 6-10-8 Rights of beneficiaries and assignees under life insurance policies. If a policy
of insurance, whether heretofore or hereafter issued, is effected by any person on his or
her own life or on another life in favor of a person other than himself or herself or, except
in cases of transfer with intent to defraud creditors, if a policy of life insurance is assigned
or in any way made payable to any such person, the lawful beneficiary or assignee thereof,
other than the insured or the person so effecting such insurance, or his or her executors
or administrators, shall be entitled to its proceeds and avails against the creditors and
representatives of the insured and of the person effecting the same, whether or not the right

Section 27-14-17 Construction of policies. (a) Every insurance contract shall be construed
according to the entirety of its terms and conditions as set forth in the policy and as amplified,
extended, or modified by any rider, endorsement, or application which is a part of the policy.

Section 27-14-5 Power to contract; purchase of insurance by or for minors. (a) Any person of
competent legal capacity may contract for insurance. (b) Any minor of the age of 15 years
or more, as determined by the nearest birthday, may, notwithstanding his minority, contract

Section 27-3-27 Insurers to do business through licensed agents, etc.; exceptions. (a) No insurer
shall, in this state, directly or indirectly, accept applications for insurance, negotiate
for or issue any policy or contract of insurance or assume direct liability as to a subject

Section 19-3-125 Life, endowment, or annuity contracts. In addition to any other investment
now permitted by law, a guardian or trustee may invest the funds of his ward or of the beneficiary
of the trust in life, endowment or annuity contracts of legal reserve life insurance companies
duly qualified and authorized to write such business in the State of Alabama; provided, however,
that the annual premium or premiums on such contracts purchased by such guardian or trustee
shall not exceed 25 percent of the income of the ward or the beneficiary for any calendar
