Section 23-1-56 Contracts to do work - Qualification of bidders. (a) Prequalifications of contractors. The Director of Transportation shall require all bidders to furnish a statement under oath, on such forms as the State Department of Transportation may prescribe, of detailed information with respect to their financial resources, equipment, past record, and experience of both the firm and personnel of the organization, together with such other information as the State Department of Transportation may deem necessary for carrying out the provisions of this chapter. (a) An appointing authority may peremptorily suspend any employee without pay or other compensation as punishment for improper behavior, but the suspension or total suspension by the appointing authority of the person shall not exceed 30 business days in any year of service. The suspension with loss of pay may be effected only by service upon the employee by the appointing authority of written charges setting out clearly the reasons for which the suspension is being considered. It shall be a misdemeanor for any person, association, copartnership, or corporation, except corporations organized in accordance with the provisions of this chapter, credit unions incorporated under the laws of the United States, the trade associations of credit unions doing business in this state, and other organizations as approved by the administrator, to use the words "credit union" in their name, title, or in advertising. A credit union organized under the provisions of this chapter shall include in its corporate name or title the words "credit union."
