Section 40-18-19 Exemptions - Generally. (a) The following exemptions from income taxation
shall be allowed to every individual resident taxpayer: (1) Retirement allowances, pensions
and annuities, or optional allowances, approved by the Board of Control of the Teachers' Retirement
System of Alabama, which exempt status is set out in Section 16-25-23. (2) Retirement allowances,
pensions and annuities or optional allowances, approved by the Board of Control of the Employees'

Section 22-19-161 Definitions. In this article: (1) "Adult" means an individual who
is at least 18 years of age. (2) "Agent" means an individual: (A) authorized to
make health care decisions on the principal's behalf by a power of attorney for health care;
or (B) expressly authorized to make an anatomical gift on the principal's behalf by any other
record signed by the principal. (3) "Anatomical gift" means a donation of all or

Section 8-26B-5 Registration as athlete agent; application; requirements; reciprocal registration.
(a) An applicant for registration as an athlete agent shall submit an application for registration
to the Secretary of State in a form prescribed by the Secretary of State. The applicant must

Section 36-25-1 Definitions. Whenever used in this chapter, the following words and terms shall
have the following meanings: (1) BUSINESS. Any corporation, partnership, proprietorship, firm,
enterprise, franchise, association, organization, self-employed individual, or any other legal

Section 30-1-21 THIS SECTION WAS ASSIGNED BY THE CODE COMMISSIONER IN THE 2019 REGULAR SESSION,
EFFECTIVE AUGUST 29, 2019. THIS IS NOT IN THE CURRENT CODE SUPPLEMENT. (a) On August 29, 2019
and thereafter, the only requirement for a marriage in this state shall be for parties who
are otherwise legally authorized to be married to enter into a marriage as provided in this
section. However, the judge of probate shall continue to collect the recording fee provided
for in subdivision (32) of subsection (b) of Section 12-19-90 for each marriage recorded with
the judge of probate. Furthermore, at the time the marriage is recorded, the judge of probate
shall also collect the fee provided for in Section 30-6-11 to be distributed as provided in
that section. (b) The marriage document required to be executed by the parties shall contain

Section 6-5-70 Furnishing liquor to minors. Either parent of a minor, guardian, or a person
standing in loco parentis to the minor having neither father nor mother shall have a right
of action against any person who unlawfully sells or furnishes spirituous liquors to such
minor and may recover such damages as the jury may assess, provided the person selling or

Section 26-2A-7 Delegation of powers by parent or guardian; parental authority. (a) A parent
who has custody, or a guardian, of a minor or incapacitated person, by a properly executed
power of attorney, may delegate to another person, for a period not exceeding one year, any
power regarding health, support, education, or maintenance of the person or property of the
minor child or ward, except the power to consent to marriage or adoption of a minor ward.
Temporary "delegation" of parental powers does not relieve the parent or guardian
of the primary responsibility for the minor or incapacitated person. (b) The provisions of

Section 38-7-15 Conditions precedent to bringing child into state for purposes of adoption
or placement in child-care facility. (a) No person or agency shall bring or send any child
into the State of Alabama for the purpose of placing him or procuring his adoption or placing
him in any child-care facility, as defined herein, without first obtaining the consent of
the department. The department shall have the power to impose and enforce reasonable conditions
