Section 25-5-67 Burial expenses. If death results to an employee as the result of an accident or an occupational disease arising out of and in the course of the employment, the employer shall pay, in addition to the medical and hospital expenses provided for in Section 25-5-77, the expenses of burial, not exceeding in amount six thousand five hundred dollars ($6,500). If a dispute arises as to the reasonable value of the services rendered in connection with the burial, the same shall be approved by the court before payment after reasonable notice to interested parties as the court may require. Section 25-4-16 Wages. (a) Prior to January 1, 1983, "wages," as used in this chapter, shall mean such remuneration as was defined in this section prior to such date. (b) On and after January 1, 1983, "wages," as used in this chapter, shall mean every form of remuneration paid or received for personal services, including the cash value of any remuneration paid in any medium other than cash. (a) The rights, benefits, and other employee protective conditions and remedies of Section 13(c) of the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as amended (49 U.S.C. § 1609(c)), as determined by the Secretary of Labor, shall apply to the operation by the authority of any public transportation service and to any contract or other arrangement for the operation of such service.
