Section 16-25-81 Cost-of-living increase provided for certain retirees participating under Section 36-27-6. (a) Commencing October 1, 1993, there is provided to certain persons identified in subsection (b) of this section who are currently receiving benefits, whose effective date of retirement was prior to October 1, 1992, for purposes of receiving benefits from the Employees' Retirement System, and to certain beneficiaries of deceased members and deceased retirees who are currently receiving survivor benefits if the effective date of retirement or death for the deceased member or retiree was prior to October 1, 1992, for purposes of receiving benefits from the Employees' Retirement System, a cost-of-living increase as follows: (1) 1.28 percent of the current gross benefit paid to the retiree and to certain beneficiaries of deceased members and deceased retirees. Section 25-4-51 Rates of contributions, etc., by employers. (a) Contributions. Except as hereinafter provided and subject to the provisions of Section 25-4-54, every employer shall pay contributions, or payments in lieu of contributions, equal to the percentages of wages payable or paid as hereinafter set out, with respect to employment by him. Section 36-22-16 Compensation. (a) Sheriffs of the several counties in this state shall be compensated for their services by an annual salary payable in equal installments out of the county treasury as the salaries of other county employees are paid. The annual salary of the sheriff shall be $35,000.00, commencing with the next term of office, unless a higher salary is specifically provided for by law by general or local act hereafter enacted.
