Section 40-2A-7 Uniform revenue procedures. (a) Maintenance of records; audit and subpoena authority; authority to issue regulations. (1) In addition to all other recordkeeping requirements otherwise set out in this title, taxpayers shall keep and maintain an accurate and complete set of records, books, and other information sufficient to allow the department to determine the correct amount of value or correct amount of any tax, license, permit, or fee administered by the department, or other records or information as may be necessary for the proper administration of any matters under the jurisdiction of the department. Section 24-5-14 Penalties; disposition of funds. (a) Whoever violates this article or any regulation or order issued under this article shall be liable for a civil penalty of not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000) for each such violation. Each violation of any section of this article or regulation or order shall constitute a separate violation with respect to each manufactured home or with respect to each failure or refusal to allow or perform an act required thereby, except that the maximum civil penalty may not exceed one million dollars ($1,000,000) for any related series of violations occurring within one year from the date of the first violation. Any person in interest, his authorized agent or attorney may petition the board of appeals for a review of the validity or reasonableness of any rule or regulation adopted, amended, or repealed by the board of appeals under the provisions of this chapter.
