Section 12-16-37 Clerks of commissions - Authority for employment; compensation; clerical assistance.
(a) The clerk of the circuit court in counties having a population of 60,000 or less according
to the last federal census preceding his election or appointment, may elect to serve as clerk
of the jury commission; provided that notice of his intent to serve as clerk for the commission
shall be filed in writing with the presiding circuit judge and the Administrative Director
of Courts within 30 days after assuming the duties of clerk of the circuit court. Provided
that the provisions of this section shall not prohibit any clerk of the circuit court who
is on August 17, 1983, serving as clerk of the jury commission or clerk of any similar body
established by local law to act in lieu of the jury commission, from serving as clerk of the

Section 45-40-71 Expense allowance; salary. (a) The members of the County Commission of Lawrence
County, excluding the chair, shall receive an additional expense allowance in the amount of
two hundred fifty dollars ($250) per month in addition to any other compensation and allowance

Section 45-49-151.07 Racing days - Requirements; broadcast races. (a) Any person, association,
or corporation desiring to operate a racetrack in the county shall hold and conduct one or
more race meetings at the track each year, but no license shall be granted to any person,
association, or corporation, or to any track for a period longer than 312 racing days in any
one year. (b)(1) Any licensee conducting race meetings under this subpart may: a. Receive
broadcasts of horse races and dog races conducted outside of Mobile County, and allow all
forms of pari-mutuel wagering on those races. The gross proceeds retained by the licensee
on all wagering by patrons on horse races or dog races received under this section shall be
subject to a commission of two percent to be paid by the licensee to the racing commission.

Section 45-8-242 Levy of tax; advisory referendum; collection of tax; disposition of funds.
(a) This section shall only apply to Calhoun County. (b) As used in this section, state sales
and use tax means the tax imposed by the state sales and use tax statutes, including, but
not limited to, Sections 40-23-1, 40-23-2, 40-23-4, 40-23-60, 40-23-61, 40-23-62, and 40-23-63.
(c)(1) The County Commission of Calhoun County may levy in the police jurisdictions of the
incorporated municipalities in the county and in the unincorporated areas of the county, in

Section 14-6-20 Appointment of physicians; terms, compensation and duties thereof. (a) The
county commission in each county in this state may elect a physician, or as many physicians
