Section 23-1-170 Purpose and construction of article. It is the intention of the Legislature
by the passage of this article to authorize the incorporation of a public corporation for
the following purposes: (1) To issue bonds to assure the availability of funds for payment
of the state's share of the cost of constructing roads and bridges as shall from time to time
be constructed with funds supplied jointly by the state and federal government; and (2) To
construct and maintain, or participate in the construction and maintenance, or lend its aid
in construction and maintenance or contract for construction and maintenance of roads and
bridges in the State of Alabama, as well as the approaches thereto, including the reconstruction
and relocating of approaches, causeways and like or other highway facilities which may, from
time to time, be constructed and maintained with funds to be supplied jointly by the state

Section 23-8-7 Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program-II Committee.
(a) There is hereby created the Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program-II
(ATRIP-II) Committee. The appointing authorities shall coordinate their appointments to assure
the committee membership is inclusive and reflects the racial, gender, geographic, urban,
rural, and economic diversity of the state. All members of the ATRIP-II Committee shall be
appointed within 30 days after March 12, 2019, and shall serve until a successor is named.
Members of the ATRIP-II Committee shall consist of: (1) The Director of the State Department
of Transportation who shall serve as Chair of the ATRIP-II Committee. (2) The Lieutenant Governor

Section 37-15-4 Notice of intent to excavate or demolish. (a) A permit issued pursuant to law
authorizing excavation or demolition operations shall not be deemed to relieve a person from
the responsibility for complying with this chapter. Any public agency issuing such permit
shall notify the person receiving the permit of the notification requirements of this chapter;
however, failure to provide such notification shall not make the State Department of Transportation

Section 33-17-2 Legislative intent; construction of chapter. The Legislature hereby makes the
findings of facts and declaration of intent hereinafter set forth in this section. The construction
of a navigable waterway between Demopolis, Alabama and the Tennessee River, utilizing the
channel of the Tombigbee River, would provide a new transportation route of great importance
and would stimulate the development of commerce, agriculture and industry in many sections
of the state. Local flooding along the tributary streams of the Tombigbee River occurs frequently
in the growing and harvesting season and causes considerable damage to agriculture in the

Section 8-17-217 Permissible items of fireworks. (a) It shall be unlawful for an individual,
firm, partnership, or corporation to possess, sell, or use within the State of Alabama, or
ship into the State of Alabama, except as provided in Section 8-17-216, any pyrotechnics commonly
known as "fireworks" other than items now or hereafter classified as Class C common
fireworks by the United States Department of Transportation and/or those items that comply
with the construction, chemical composition, and labeling regulations promulgated by the United
States Consumer Product Safety Commission and permitted for use by the general public under

Section 11-6-2 Qualifications. The person appointed as county engineer, or chief engineer of
the division of public roads within the meaning of this article, shall be a registered professional
engineer in the State of Alabama in good standing and, in addition, he shall have had not
less than three years' experience in the maintenance and construction of highways and bridges.
The county engineer need not be qualified as a land surveyor in order for the State Department

Section 22-20-5.2 Food service establishments to secure covers of grease traps. (a) This section
shall be known and may be cited as the Sadie Grace Andrews Act. (b) This section shall apply
to commercial food service establishments that utilize grease traps that are outdoors or are
in areas that are accessible to members of the general public. (c)(1) Grease traps with manholes
shall be designed to withstand expected loads and prevent access by children. The manhole
cover shall be secured by a bolt or locking mechanism or be constructed of round cast iron
or similar construction rated for heavy road traffic with sufficient weight to prevent unauthorized
access. A public water or sewer authority may specify either manner of manhole access exclusively,
provided it conforms to this section and prevents unauthorized access. (2) A commercial food
service establishment shall insure that a grease trap manhole is secured or locked, if applicable,

Section 34-14A-20 Alabama Construction Trade Academy Fund; Alabama Construction Trade Advisory
Council; applications for funding; program guidelines. (a) The Alabama Construction Trade
Academy Fund is established in the State Treasury. The fund shall be comprised of federal,
state, and private funding through direct budgetary funding and grants for the expansion of
construction trade education. To the extent practicable, monies in the fund shall be used
