Section 36-18-32 DNA Database Fund. (a) There is hereby established a special fund to be known as the Alabama DNA Database Fund. (b) The fund shall be placed under the management or administration of the Director of the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for the exclusive purposes of implementing the provisions of this article. (c) The fund shall consist of all moneys received by the director pursuant to the provisions of this section. (d) The director shall have control of those funds as shall not be inconsistent with the provisions of this article and with the laws of the State of Alabama. (e) Monies deposited in the Alabama DNA Database Fund may be expended by the Director of the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in accordance with the provisions of this article. The investment of monies in the fund by the State Treasurer shall remain in the Alabama DNA Database Fund. For the benefit of the State of Alabama and the citizens thereof, there is hereby created a special fund named the BP Settlement Fund which shall be funded with BP settlement revenues and administered in accordance with this article. All BP settlement revenues received after September 30, 2017, shall be deposited in the special fund upon receipt and shall be used first to pay principal, interest, and premium, if any, and any other amounts due on or with respect to the bonds of the authority. (a) Each state-recognized local emergency management agency that employs and retains a local emergency management director who completes the requirements to be a certified local emergency management director and is so designated by the Director of the Alabama Emergency Management Agency shall receive an annual salary supplement from the Alabama Emergency Management Agency in an amount necessary to provide the local director with a total salary of forty thousand dollars ($40,000) per year.
