Section 22-13A-4 Establishment and promotion of program; duties of officer; strategies for raising public awareness and educating consumers and professionals. (a) The State Department of Health, hereinafter referred to as "the department," shall establish, promote, and maintain an osteoporosis prevention and treatment education program in order to raise public awareness, educate consumers, educate and train health professionals, teachers, and human service providers, and for other purposes. (b) For purposes of administering this chapter, the State Health Officer shall do all of the following: (1) Provide sufficient staff to implement the Osteoporosis Prevention and Treatment Education Program. (2) Provide appropriate training for staff of the Osteoporosis Prevention and Treatment Education Program. (3) Identify the appropriate entities to carry out the program. Section 34-13-56 Grounds for revocation, suspension, or refusal to issue or renew licenses, etc.; hearing; fines. (a) The board may refuse to license any person or establishment for violation of this chapter. If the board refuses to issue, grant, or renew a license based on a violation of this chapter, including, but not limited to, violations listed in subsection (c), the licensee or prospective licensee may request a public hearing before the board to appeal the action of the board. (a) Any person who violates this chapter, or the rules adopted under this chapter, shall be subject to a civil penalty as follows: (1) For a first violation, the violator shall complete a course of training concerning compliance with this chapter or pay a civil penalty in an amount not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500) per incident, or both.
