Section 16-16B-1 Short title; electronic textbooks; wireless electronic devices; rule making authority; implementation plan; Alabama Ahead Oversight Committee. (a) This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the Alabama Ahead Act. (b)(1) Commencing with the 2016-2017 school year, students may be provided textbooks in electronic format . Textbooks in electronic format may be available to schools under the jurisdiction of those local boards of education which choose to participate in Alabama Ahead, to the extent practicable and funding is obtainable, to provide students with resources in the following three areas: a. Wireless broadband access via high-quality WiFi infrastructure in schools, as a first priority pursuant to Section 16-6B-2.1. b. (a) It shall be the duty and obligation of the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners to promote the early identification, intervention, treatment, and rehabilitation of veterinary professionals licensed to practice veterinary medicine or veterinary technology in Alabama who may be impaired by reason of illness, inebriation, excessive use of drugs, narcotics, alcohol, chemicals, or other substances, or as a result of any physical or mental condition. The committee shall consist of five members as follows: Two members shall be industrial members of the LP-Gas Board appointed by the board chair; two members shall be either a dealer or a dealer's manager who is a member of the Alabama Propane Gas Association appointed by the association's board of directors; the fifth member shall be the Chair of the LP-Gas Board who shall serve as chair of the committee.
