Section 11-64-1 Definitions. As used in this chapter, the following words and terms shall have the following respective meanings: (1) CONDITIONS OF A GRANT. The terms and conditions upon which a grant is made by a donor. (2) DONOR. The United States, or the state, or any county in the state or any municipality or any department, division, board, bureau, institution, or agency of any of the foregoing, or any person, firm, or corporation, institution, foundation or other agency or any combination of any two or more such donors. (3) GOVERNING BODY. The council, commission, board of directors, or other group or body which governs, controls, or makes decisions for a grantee. (4) GRANT. Any gift, grant, appropriation, donation, or advance by any donor, whether absolute or conditional, for any purpose. (5) GRANTEE. Section 16-25A-41 Definitions. The following terms shall have the following meanings, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise: (1) BOARD. The Public Education Flexible Employees Benefit Board. (2) EMPLOYEE. Section 16-47-124 Types of awards. There shall be two types of awards as follows: (1) LOANS. A number of loans equal in number to 20 percent of the student body of the medical schools in the State of Alabama, each in an amount of up to the average cost of tuition, fees, and living expenses, as set forth in the current catalogs of the University of Alabama School of Medicine or the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, for the year of each enrollment. These loans shall be available to any resident of Alabama of good character who has been accepted for matriculation by one of the medical schools of Alabama preference being given to those applicants who can show an economic need, and who commit in writing to practice in a rural area in a generalists specialty as determined by the board.
